Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, the wife of Argentine President Nestor Kirchner, will take her husband’s job Dec. 10, after beating her closest rival by a wide margin to become the country’s first elected female president.
Fernandez will be Argentina’s second female president; Isabel Peron, who married Juan Peron after Eva Peron’s death, was his vice-president when he died in 1974 and served for 20 chaotic months before a military coup.

SR: I’ve heard in interviews, some girls say that they hesitate to do inter-racial scenes because of what it’ll do their career. What do you think about an attitude like that?
HS: I think a girl that thinks doing inter-racial will hurt her career, it just makes her look like a racist asshole. I mean, it’s just absurd to me. How are you going to say that? With all your black fans out there hearing that, and also all the black people in the industry, too, that’s just incredibly offensive.

HR 4437 would make it a felony offense to be in the U.S. without proper documentation. This would push undocumented immigrants further underground, and increase the potential for exploitation by employers. This bill would also criminalize nurses, teachers, clergy, social workers, and anyone else who aids, assists, or otherwise has regular contact with undocumented immigrants.

Socialist Michelle Bachelet won Chile’s presidential election on Sunday, becoming the Andean nation’s first woman leader while further consolidating Latin America’s move to the left.
Bachelet, a paediatrician and former political prisoner, handily beat her conservative challenger, multimillionaire businessman Sebastian Pinera. With 97.5% of about 7.2 million votes counted, Bachelet had 53.4% of the vote to Pinera’s 46.5%, official results showed.
